Global Market for CTL (shortwood) machines worth one billion Euros

This article gives some detail of the facts and figures behind this.

The figures come from the Swedish forestry research institute, Skogforsk. Sweden and Finland dominate in the production of CTL machines. The annual value of machine sales for Sweden alone is € 330 million. This does not include additional equipment (e.g. harvester heads), accessories and small-scale forest technology.

Sweden and Finland make up approximately 30% of the global CTL market. This global market amounts to about 3,000 machines sold per year. This figure has grown by 50% in the last decade. Most of these machines are manufactured in Sweden or Finland.

The most important growth markets are the plantation forests of South America, south-east Asia, China and Russia.
