Even though the document was published in 2004, the information is still valid. Some of the technologies mentioned have already become part of standard equipment when the truck is purchased; some have become part of optional equipment, while others are still in testing or concept phase. Issues limiting acceptance of some of the technologies and technology reliability are also discussed. These technologies can (and are) improve truck safety, efficiency, inspection and enforcement.
