The new machines provide improved cycle times, better fuel efficiency, automated systems, and easier operation.
The Cat 735C, 740C EJ and 745C have engines that meet Tier 4 Final and Stage IV emission standards. They have new transmissions with expanded electronic control, automatic traction control, automatic retarder control, hill assist and waiting break systems. Also included is an optional payload weighing system. The rated payloads of the new models are 36, 42 and 45.2 tons (32.7, 38 and 41 metric tons) respectively. The new models replace their B Series predecessors. The 745C has a 1.7 ton (1.5 metric ton) capacity increase (compared to the 740B), which when combined with the faster cycle times, results in significant productivity gains.
The 740C EJ ejector model, which uses the 745C’s tractor with a horizontal-discharge body, allows material to be unloaded to a uniform depth even when travelling at speed. This reduces the need for on-site spreading equipment, and allows the material to be discharged with added stability in soft underfoot conditions on side slopes and grades, and when overhead obstructions are present. The 735C makes use of a Cat C15 ACERT engine rated at 452 hp (337 kW), while the 740C EJ and &45C use a C18 ACERT engine rated at 511 hp (381 kW). Key specifications are included in the table below.
