BPW produces a new running gear with ride height adjustment for trailers used in off-road applications

This will allow towed vehicles to be used for on-road and off-road applications by stabilising the trailer.

If trailers are to be used in on and off-road applications, they need to have a robust running gear. Trailers traditionally have a high centre of gravity, and keeping the ride height constant under any loading condition will result in a more balanced and safer ride. BPW has developed an electronic control system for the BPW running gear with hydro-pneumatic suspension. Using a programmable ride height adjustment function, the system counteracts the negative effects of both loading conditions and road conditions, ensuring a consistent centre of gravity for the trailer. Equalisation takes place between the axles while keeping the axle loads equally distributed. Rolling movements are minimised. The system detects changes in slope through an angle sensor and adjusts the ride electronically. Source: http://www.bpw.de/en/media/press/press-archive/eintrag/single/137.html
