Bell introduces their new generation haulage tractors

Mercedes Benz water-cooled engines feature in the new Series IV tractors.

Bell Equipment has been building haulage tractors for 40 years. This extended experience has equipped them to determine where improvements are required and where components should remain the same. The new engines are coupled to the proven Allison automatic transmission, and deliver power ranging from 90 kW (122 hp) to 160 kW (218 hp). This also improves tractive effort and provides up to 25% more available torque, with reduced fuel consumption.

Other operational benefits include exhaust valve braking as standard to reduce brake wear, a power core air cleaner with integrated pre-cleaner and scavenging for improved engine protection, increased hydraulic pump flow, greater delivery capacity of the gear-driven compressor and dual batteries with the introduction of a 24 Volt system. Operator comfort and service access are also improved. The cab is now fully enclosed with air-conditioning and includes a high comfort suspension seat as well as an ergonomic operator station with onboard diagnostics. A trainer seat is available as an option.

Components that remain from the previous series haulage tractors include the fabricated steel chassis, heavy duty rear axle and hitch positioning ahead of the axle for efficient load carrying capacity, improved steering and traction. Safety features, such as the ROPS/FOPS certified cab, front axle loading and fully equipped pneumatic trailer braking have also been retained. The new models include:

  • 1214A and 1214AF: 90 kW (122 hp) for shorter hauls and single trailers
  • 1464A and 1464AF: 110 kW (150 hp) for short to medium hauls and single or dual trailers
  • 1734A and 1734AF: 130 kW (177 hp) for medium hauls and dual rigs
  • 2134A: 160 kW (218 hp) for longer hauls and multi rigs

The AF models are 4x4 units. Source: http://www.bellequipment.com/en/about-us/latest-news/bell-introduces-mercedes-benz-engines-to-new-haulage-tractors
