Bandit produces a card breaker system to screen wood chips

The system is used with both hand-fed and whole-tree drum chippers.

The card breaker system operates similar to a screening system, where oversize material is restricted from exiting the chipper. It is able to produce the higher quality wood chips that are often required for biomass energy markets. The card breaker system is able to function without the need for additional chip accelerating devices and is therefore able to maintain machine productivity. As chips leave the drum, the larger sized chips hit the card breaker installed in the discharge. This breaks the chips down to a size where they can be discharged, resulting in a more uniform chip suitable for energy production. Currently, the chips produced by many hand-fed chippers must be disposed of, often at a high cost. The card breaker system opens up new markets for these chipper types.
