Waratah introduce a new extra-robust large tree directional felling head

The FL-95 head is has been purpose-designed for difficult harvesting conditions.

The head is a heavy duty directional felling head that has been specifically designed for steep slope felling, handling of oversize timber, late or final thinning and clear cuts, topping, storm damaged trees and high production shovel logging. It has a steep slope specific tilt design, a fully retractable saw box and an extra-large 158 cm (62 in) grapple opening. Waratah lists the following key aspects of the new head:

  • A retractable saw box for easier shovel logging and loading out.
  • Increased bar and chain protection when shovel logging.
  • A best-in-class chassis rotation for felling on extreme slopes.
  • A heavy duty chassis design for increased service life.
  • A 13 cm (5 in) grapple cylinder for increased clamping force.
  • A heavy duty ¾ main saw and 109 cm (43 in) saw bar as standard.
  • Improvements for ease of maintenance and accessability.
