The JCB Hydradig 110W is a completely new machine from the ground up.
The JCB Hydradig was developed over a three-year period. Designers and engineers set out to address five key challenges, being visibility, stability, manoeuvrability, mobility and serviceability. The first orders for the new 10-tonne machine have been placed and production has started at the JCB Heavy Products plant in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. Logging-on gives an overview of how JCB has addressed each challenge, as well as other machine features:
- Vision: The operator can see within 1 m (3.3 ft) of the machine footprint at ground level and all four wheels of the machine can be seen from operator seat. The 81 kW (110 hp) T4i JCB EcoMAX engine and other major components are housed in the chassis, reducing the tail-swing to just 120 mm (4.7 in) to improve ground level visibility. The operator can view the stabilisers, dozer and trailer hitch from inside the cab without having to slew the machine. Low-level glass provides unobstructed visibility.
- Stability: With safety being the most important priority, the Hydradig has excellent side stability. Having the engine and tank mounted on the chassis gives good stability due to the low centre of gravity. This keeps the operator confident and productive when lifting and carrying materials.
- Mobility: A top speed of 40 kp/hr (25 mi/hr) and stepless transmission allows quicker travel to and between sites. A factory fit trailer installation is available to transport attachments and site equipment.
- Manoeuvrability: 4-wheel steer, 2-wheel steer and crab steer are standard, allowing the operator to work safely in confined areas.
- Serviceability: All service points are accessible from ground level.
- Operator comfort: A tactile rotary controller provides precise intuitive control for the new 7" colour display.
