JCB produces a machine to cut the costs of pothole repairs

The new Potholemaster is based on JCB’s popular backhoe loader.

The machine has an attachment at the back called a patch planer. It is equipped with 45 steel teeth to grind away the surface of the road around the pothole. When this is complete, the JCB moves backwards and forwards over the ground-out pothole, sweeping away the dust, dirt and debris with a large sweeper mounted onto the front of the machine. This creates the ideal base for the team that will now be able to permanently repair the pothole with asphalt. The Potholemaster has the advantages of being mobile, enabling it to move quickly to another pothole or worksite, and it has two attachments, where many competitor machines only have one, resulting in time being wasted while the attachment is being changed. The Potholemaster has the added versatility of being fitted with a bucket and excavator for digging and loading when not mending potholes. Source: www.jcb.co.uk
