New Products - Using Simulators For Training Operators Of Road Construction Machinery

John Deere has produced two new simulators for different road construction machinery.

Simulators can drastically reduce traditional training costs for high capital cost equipment. John Deere has introduced simulators for its crawler dozers and backhoe machines. Five construction simulators are now available, as John Deere already produces simulators for excavators, four-wheel drive loaders and motor graders.

Operators can now receive initial and follow up training in a risk-free environment. Good operator technique and safe operation can be learned before the operator even sets foot onto a machine. New technology is also used that enhances the virtual environment. A new motion platform option lets operators feel the simulator react to virtual worksite terrain. An additional option is a head-tracking device that links the operators head movements to the in-simulation view, creating a more realistic experience.

There are eight to ten detailed and realistic lessons. The operators improvements are monitored using a detailed score sheet. Source: www.deere.com
